Telephone Town Hall meetings
June 24, 2010
I held a telephone town hall meeting tonight and one last night on Obama’s job-killing moratorium. These are great opportunities to communicate with you and I always greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
Comments OffJudge’s ruling is victory for Louisiana
June 23, 2010
Judge Feldman’s ruling to strike down Obama’s moratorium was a victory yesterday for Louisiana workers. I will keep fighting against the blanket moratorium, even if the Administration tries to appeal the ruling.
Comments OffU.S. District Judge blocks Obama moratorium
June 22, 2010
U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman blocked Obama’s 6 month moratorium on deepwater drilling today. I have great respect for Judge Feldman & his decision shows that the president’s powers are certainly not unlimited & recognizes that this moratorium was killing jobs in LA. I’ve also introduced legislation to lift the moratorium & will continue to fight to lift the ban even if Obama’s legal team appeals the decision.
Comments OffMy legislation to lift moratorium
My legislation to lift the moratorium is picking up momentum. Thank you Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) for signing on as a co-sponsor. We’ll also be watching very closely to see if the U.S. District Court grants an injunction to stop Obama’s moratorium. The ruling may come as early as noon today.
Comments OffObama’s Oil Spill Investigation Commission
June 21, 2010
Obama’s oil spill investigation commission will be led by academics and environmental activists, not by engineers. Some of the commission members have a history of supporting anti-drilling policies. It seems like the administration is blind to how important offshore jobs are for Louisiana as well as the nation’s economy. That’s why I introduced a bill to lift Obama’s job-killing moratorium and move forward with immediate rigorous safety inspections.
Comments OffVA outpatient clinic in Lake Charles
We are making progress with the community based VA outpatient clinic in Lake Charles. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recently approved lease authority and is in the process of looking for space to lease. This is a critical step in the ongoing process and it’s an encouraging sign that progress is being made.
Comments OffFrustrating Delays
June 18, 2010
Earlier this week the Coast Guard held their skimming boats on the dock because they were not fully equipped. Frustrating delays like this are costing us days of cleanup. This is why the Administration needs a more unified chain of command.

Comments OffOffering alternative solutions
I’m working to get BP and the administration to consider different ideas to help fight the oil spill and cleanup the Gulf. I have personally sent countless ideas only to get an automated response. Suggestions seem to go into a black hole with them.
Comments OffObamacare Reapeal Watch: Melancon is still supporting Obamacare
Obamacare Repeal Watch: Melancon is still supporting Obamacare. This week there was a vote in the House to repeal the individual mandate in Obamacare. On Tuesday, Melancon voted with Nancy Pelosi and the liberals in Congress to KEEP the individual mandate. http://bit.ly/buJidh
