My efforts to reauthorize flood insurance program

    June 30, 2010

I’ll continue my efforts to reauthorize the flood insurance program immediately, as a stand-alone bill. Louisiana can’t wait any longer for the liberal leadership in the Senate to keep playing political games. This article in the Times-Picayune explains how the leadership is trying to make flood insurance another Louisiana Purchase for a new spending bill that will add $33 Billion to the deficit.

My legislation to extend national flood insurance

I offered legislation on US Senate floor today to extend the national flood insurance without adding to the deficit, but the liberal leadership blocked it again. They are trying to make flood insurance the next Louisiana Purchase by including on a bill that increases unemployment, taxes and debt by $80 Billion.

    Victory for 2nd Amendment Rights

The Supreme Court recently held that the Constitution’s Second Amendment restrains government’s ability to significantly limit “the right to keep and bear arms,” yielding another victory for those of us who are advocates for Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

    Weekend: Ruston Peach Festival

Had a great time riding a float in the Peach Festival parade this morning. Ruston peaches are truly the best peaches in the world, especially when mixed with ice cream. Special thanks to Hayden Haynes, Lee Whitten and the rest of the volunteers for putting together an incredible float and booth.

    Raiding Trust Fund

    June 24, 2010

Liberals in Washington are trying to exploit the oil spill for political gain. Shutting down offshore drilling, raiding the oil spill trust fund to pay for new unrelated government spending, and promoting cap and tax. Louisianians deserve more than the use of the ongoing tragedy in the Gulf to force job-killing policies on them. You can read more in my op-ed below.
