    1st FEC Deadline

    March 31, 2010

Our FEC fundraising deadline is just 6 hours away, and I wanted to make sure you saw this email below from Senator Vitter.

As Senator Vitter’s Finance Director, I can’t stress enough how important tonight’s first quarter deadline is to show the Obama crowd David will have the firepower to respond to their attacks. As you know, Senator Vitter’s not about to give up the fight against Obama’s government-run health care plan. Keeping the government from getting between you and your doctor is just too important. Please coauthor David’s bill to repeal Obamacare and consider donating $10 to the Campaign now before this important midnight deadline.

Please follow the links below, or go to www.davidvitter.com/donate, to show your support for Senator Vitter and give him the resources to continue to fight for our future.

    Thank you,

    Courtney Guastella

Finance Director, David Vitter for Senate

Vitter: “Louisiana Needs a Fighter, Not a Quitter”

    March 4, 2010

US. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement regarding news that Charlie Melancon resigned his seat on the House Budget Committee:

“Charlie is always saying how he works behind the scenes to get things done, but I’m starting to wonder if Charlie works at all. He won’t hold a public town hall meeting and now he is quitting from the House Budget Committee so he won’t have to take tough votes on the huge Washington spending measures that Obama and Pelosi ask him to support. Louisiana needs a fighter, not a quitter,” said Vitter.

The House Budget Committee is where many of the tough spending votes will occur for this year’s new budget. Melancon has a history of quitting committees when things get tough. Last year, he quit the House Committee with jurisdiction over NASA to avoid the tough work of trying to fight for Michoud – an issue Vitter has been a vocal advocate for as Ranking Member of the Senate Space Subcommittee.

“Louisiana needs leaders who step into the fray when the things are tough, not run away from the fight. I’ve always charged ahead in advocating for Louisiana, while Charlie seems to prefer to run, hide and whine about all the partisanship in Washington as he simultaneously throws mud at me,” added Vitter.

Charlie Melancon already voted for last year’s Obama budget that will triple the national debt. This budget also included the reconciliation mechanism specifically designed to be used to force through the president’s health care bill if necessary. He also voted for the much-maligned stimulus and bailout bills that were massive increases in debt.
