The Battle Isn’t Over
August 20, 2009
Earlier this month, President Obama’s liberal friends in Congress returned home to find angry crowds and dwindling support for their plan to take over your medical care.
This means we are starting to win the fight against this disastrous government-run health care bill, but the battle is far from over. I need to know that you stand with me when I return to Capitol Hill next month to make our voices heard.
From hosting town halls to talking with the media to launching my online petition, I’ve been doing everything I can to stop this bill dead in it’s tracks. Will you help me keep up the fight against government-run health care with a quick and secure donation to my campaign?
When Congress reconvenes in a few weeks, President Obama will face the biggest fight so far against his liberal agenda for government expansion. Obama’s most dedicated allies will stop at nothing in their attempts to force this bill on the American people, and I need your help to keep up the fight against them.
This government-run health care bill promises to decrease health care quality in our country, increase your taxes and create new, unprecedented obstacles for Louisiana’s small businesses. I’m unalterably opposed to such a plan, and with your ongoing support, I’ll make sure everyone in the country knows that Louisianans won’t stand for it.
Any amount you can give today will help me stand up against the liberal health care machine and be a step towards burying this bill once and for all.
Thanks for your ongoing support,
David
Keep Up the Good Work
August 19, 2009
I’ve already held 10 town halls in the past week to discuss health care with my fellow Louisianans, from Jefferson to Ouchita parish, and it’s been an honor to visit and hear first hand my fellow citizens’ concerns about the disastrous bill currently before Congress. I look forward to continuing these discussions at the 8 additional town halls I have scheduled in the near future as well.
It’s no secret what this government takeover of health care will accomplish. Rather than bringing down the cost of health care insurance, which should be our ultimate goal, this $1.5 trillion government takeover will lower the quality of health care in our country, increase taxes and insert a massive Government bureaucracy into your relationship between you and your doctor. It will represent the largest expansion of the federal government in over a generation, and from what I’ve been hearing at all of these town halls, that is not what Louisianans want.
I appreciate everyone across our state and the rest of the county who has stood with me on this issue. I’ve already had well over 1,000 signatures on my petition to stop government run health care, and I hope you’ll join them today by clicking here.
I also appreciate all the support for the alternatives I’ve been discussing – to lower the cost of prescriptions by allowing safe re-importation of medicines from Canada, for one. I also think that members of Congress should be required to enroll in this plan if it becomes law, because if a one-size-fits-all plan is good enough for the constituents they are supposed to represent, it should be good enough for Congress Members and their families as well. To read my editorial on requiring members of Congress to enroll in their own public plan, follow this link.
Thanks for reading and for your ongoing support. Keep checking back to my blog and to http://www.davidvitter.com/News for updates on the health care debate, and don’t forget to sign the petition by clicking here.

Exclusive New Health Care Video
August 13, 2009
You and your family’s ability to make critical health care decisions is currently on the chopping block in Washington.
President Obama and his liberal allies want to allow a government bureaucrat to decide which health care treatments would be allowed for patients.
Unfortunately, my opponent Charlie Melancon voted not once, but twice to put the government in charge of your health care. Check out my new web video at http://www.davidvitter.com/hc or by clicking here and see for yourself.
Charlie Melancon’s votes put your health care in jeopardy. They could mean less decision making power for you on things like what operations you can have or even whether you’re admitted to the hospital or not.
Health care decisions should be left between you and your doctor, and I am unalterably opposed to allowing the same folks who brought us FEMA and the IRS to make critical health care decisions for you and your family.
If you don’t like the idea of government-run health care, I hope you’ll view my new web video and join me in fighting government run health care and for Louisiana’s future in the U.S. Senate.
Thank you,
David
“Ugly… Un-American… Disruptions”
August 10, 2009
“Ugly… Un-American… Disruptions.”
In a USA Today editorial this morning, Speaker Nancy Pelosi used those words to describe our arguments against President Obama’s 1.5 Trillion dollar health care plan. As an elected representative of the people of Louisiana, I find these comments especially disturbing and feel compelled to set the record straight.
Over the past two days, I’ve hosted four Health Care town halls across our great state. I’ve met hundreds of Louisianans at these events and heard the voices of thousands more, all of whom are strongly opposed to this plan because it will increase spending, taxes and national debt while only hurting health care choice and quality in our country.
To me, it sounds like Speaker Pelosi and her liberal friends in Congress and the White House want to dismiss this dissent – the voices of the citizens of Louisiana – as “ugly, un-American disruptions,” rather than allow debate on their diluted, bureaucratic and overwhelmingly expensive government-run health care bill. As they try to force this bill into law, it seems they’ve forgotten the essential roll of the American public in our nation’s government.
With so much at stake in this bill – from higher taxes, to higher spending, to building unprecedented national debt – the voice of the American public is more important now than ever. Speaker Pelosi says those who argue against the bill are “afraid of the facts,” and she’s exactly right; they’re afraid of it’s $1.5 trillion price tag and the factual certainty that it will decrease health care choice and quality for us, our children and our children’s children.
Make no mistake, this is one of the most important debates taking place today. I’ll keep fighting the Obama/Pelosi Health Care machine in the U.S. Senate and make sure that our conservative voices continue to ring true. I hope you’ll stand with me by signing my 2009 “Stop Government Run Health Care” petition today.
Thanks for your support, and more importantly, for your feedback.

President Obama Raising Taxes?
August 4, 2009
So, where is the revenue going to come from to fund the Obama administration’s proposed $1 trillion health care reform? According to President Obama and his top economic advisors, the answer appears to be you.
The Obama administration said on Sunday that they would not rule out raising taxes on the middle class in order to fight the enormous deficit. Obama’s treasury secretary and national economic council director both said they would not rule out going against campaign promises of not raising taxes. You can read the article here.
I will stick to my principles and continue to speak out and vote against raising taxes on Louisiana families.
Whether it was the first Wall Street bailout President Bush sought or the numerous spending initiatives sought by the Obama administration, I have fought efforts to drive up our national debt and will continue to fight the reckless spending coming out of Washington.
Thank you,
David
