    Welcome

    April 1, 2009

    Welcome to my blog.
I’ll be posting information here about my work in the Senate, my travels in Louisiana, and the progress we’re making growing and organizing Team Vitter.

This week the Senate is working on President Obama’s proposed federal budget, and I’m offering several amendments to the budget to try to reduce our deficit – by ending TARP and the bailout programs, stopping automatic Congressional pay raises, making welfare recipients pass a drug test to receive benefits, and other common sense steps. Washington’s spending spree has gone on for far too long already, and it’s time we took steps to reign in that run-away spending.

Louisiana families have to budget their checkbooks and can’t spend more than they have. I will continue fighting the Obama Administration and the bureaucrats in Washington who don’t want to live by those same common sense principles.
